Prestigious Merit Award from PPA of New Jersey

Nancy Katz received a blue ribbon Merit Award from the Professional Photographers of America, New Jersey Chapter in their 2008 print and electronic image competition. The color, digital image entitled “Venetian Mystique” was entered in the Illustrative Print category. It was on display at the PPA of New Jersey Annual Convention in Atlantic City.

Ms. Katz shot the image in Venice, Italy in the winter of 2007. “Venetian Mystique” was also shown in February 2008 at the Teaneck Library as part of a larger display by Katz entitled “Venice in Winter ”.

Still Photographer for Film and Television...

Nancy Katz is a skilled still photographer and combines her love of still photography and movies by shooting stills on independent film and television sets. To date in 2008, she has worked on a number of projects, including a project from the New York Film Academy with noted producer Dorottya Mathe, two projects with on-air sports personality Peter Ward from the "Yes Network”, an independent film with NY-based writer/producer Charles Harrison, and an independent film with LMF Productions of New York and director Santiago Parra of Barcelona, Spain. “I love shooting stills on film sets—it’s all about story telling”, says Ms. Katz.

Photographer for North Jersey Media Community Papers…

Nancy Katz is freelancing both as a photographer and writer for NJ Media, which represents 47 weekly and bi-weekly newspaper titles in five counties in New Jersey, including some of the best community newspapers in the state. Through both paid-circulation and free-distribution publications, Community Newspapers of New Jersey Media Group reach more than a half-million residents in the region.

Teaching Photography...

New Jersey Photographer Nancy Katz teaches digital photography classes through the Teaneck Community Education Program. Her fall 2008 class is entitled “Up Close and Digital”---get to know your digital camera better as you join an autumn shoot in Teaneck's natural environment.

In 2007, award-wining photographer Nancy Katz spent the winter photographing in Europe. Select photos of "Venice in Winter" were shown at the Teaneck, New Jersey library during the month of February. Her images can be viewed in the Gallery. Portfolio size books are available for purchase by calling or e-mailing the artist, Nancy Katz. Four books are available, signed by the artist: Winter Color (Venice), Colossal Rome, Dubrovnik the Beautiful and Spanish Style.

"Faces of Cuba" Exhibit Ends on a High Note...

In conjunction with Jewish Book Month, December 2007, there was a highly successful show at the Englewood Public Library of Nancy Katz' photographs-- "Faces of Cuba" --with highlights from the Jewish community of Santiago de Cuba. During an opening reception in mid-December, Ms. Katz provided a tour of the images by telling stories from her visits with members of the community in cities and towns throughout Cuba. There was television coverage on NY1 and many articles appeared in newspapers in Bergen County, including The Jewish Standard.
